We are proud to introduce our first Community Book Drive, launching on International Book Giving Day, and benefiting Readers 2 Leaders.
Readers 2 Leaders is a literacy organization serving kindergarten and elementary students in Dallas. In short, Readers 2 Leaders is “creating a Dallas where all children are proficient readers” through tutoring services for children and coaching services for teachers to impact the long-term literacy outcomes of their students.
Our Goal
Collect 50 new books for elementary-aged students, with a focus on bilingual books that students can share with their parents, creating family reading opportunities.
How can you help?
There are three different ways to donate a book:
- Purchase a book off our Community Book Drive registry. These books will be shipped to The Novel Narwhal, specifically for donation to Readers 2 Leaders.
- Purchase a book from the Community Book Drive Collection at one of our pop-up shows – check our Facebook events page to find out where we’ll be next.
- Purchase a “donor card” from our website for $5, $10, or $15 – we’ll put the money toward a book of our choosing.
How can I track the progress of the Community Book Drive?
We will post periodic updates on our social media channels, and we’ll update this page regularly. Give us a follow or check back often.
What happens when you hit 50 books?
When we hit 50 books, we’ll donate all of them to Readers 2 Leaders, take a ton of pictures, and broadcast the impact they will have on the students and families in Dallas. Then? We’ll start choosing the beneficiary of our next Community Book Drive. If you have an idea of an organization we should consider donating to, let us know!
